Reflect - Making Choices and Not Looking Back

When I was in the 6th grade,
my teacher assigned a project that was designed to help us focus on what we wanted to be when we grew up.

Ron Smith, President, Stewart & Irwin, P.C.

I vividly remember that as a result of that assignment, I had decided to either become an actor or a lawyer. Looking back, I guess one could say that my being a litigator allowed me to experience a little bit of both! I was the oldest of six kids while growing up, and lettered in football and track in high school. My Dad died while I was attending school in Bloomington so I came back home and finished law school at the IU School of Law - Indianapolis.

I opened my own law practice
right out of law school without interviewing or even considering working for a firm. I just jumped in, head-first, and kept on going this way for sixteen and a half years! It was quite an exhilarating ride, to say the least, and the experience I gained was invaluable. Of course, now that I've spent my last twenty years practicing in a firm, I wouldn't have it any other way! The best decision I ever made was choosing the right career. There is nothing else that I would have done differently with my life. Regardless of the size of my practice over the years, I have continued to be impressed with the evolution of the ISBA and the value that it delivers to its members.

Our firm saved nearly $20,000
in health care premium over the prior year, without decline of benefit, when we switched our coverage to the ISBA Insurance Agency. That was a "no brainer" decision and just one more reason why we support the Bar! The application process was no more burdensome than an annual renewal, with virtually no interruption to us at all. I can't imagine how much additional time was saved by our not having to shop around and go through a complicated bid process from an assortment of providers.

After reviewing your current plan, I may recommend that you need only raise your deductible to lower your expense. But that isn’t always the case; it really depends on what you have now.

The quickest way to discover if a Health Savings Account is the best option for you may be to contact me and take a look at what you have now.
