WHAT IS IT THAT YOU ENJOY MOST ABOUT BEING A LAWYER?
“The opportunity to help people who often can’t help themselves, due to a sudden loss or gross injustice. Words can’t express the way I feel when I receive the heartfelt thanks from a family I’ve gotten to know during a case.” DID ANYONE IN PARTICULAR INFLUENCE YOUR CAREER CHOICE? “My father was a strong role model for me, in that he was a judge for 27 years and taught me a lot by his example. He once told me that ‘90% of law is common sense, and is usually based on greed or sex.’ YOU SERVED AS THE PRESIDENT OF THE ISBA FROM 2000-2001. WHAT DID YOU LEARN? “I started my term determined to help upgrade the public image of lawyers in general, as I was tired of hearing so many bad lawyer jokes! I wanted to create a more proactive media approach and educate the public about all of the great things about the legal profession. I was surprised at the huge number of lawyers I found donating their time and energy as volunteers, behind the scenes, for so many organizations! It really made me very proud.” HOW ABOUT A PLUG FOR AT LEAST ONE BENEFIT YOU’VE REALIZED AS A MEMBER OF THE ISBA? “I can give you two right off the top of my head! The ISBA’s Insurance Agency saved our firm $20,000 in premium going into year 2005 by helping us create our own HSA (Health Savings Account), and I personally saved over $1200 just last year alone for my home and auto insurance.” ANYTHING ELSE? “Several of my closest friends today are people that I met during my first few years in the ISBA, and some of them have also served as its President! This is a great organization that will only get better as our numbers get bigger. I hope every member will take advantage of the ISBA Insurance Agency and get a thorough comparison of their existing health insurance coverage. I’m certainly glad we did!” |

“I really enjoy seeing the faces of members when I’m able to deliver a Group Health plan that saves them money AND maintains or even improves their benefits. After reviewing your current plan, I may recommend that you need only raise your deductible to lower your expense.
